Family Activity: Tech Club
One of the biggest challenges our community faces is offering vibrant programs that attract our youth and involve their families too. Having such programs are vital to engage the community and build strong relationships within families.
Muslim Community of Western Suburb Programs Committee has created a program that accomplishes such goals and more. We host a program that gives our youth the skills to build arduino kits (electronic chips). Arduino is a single-board microcontroller, intended to make the application of interactive objects or environments more accessible.
The kids absolutely love this program and we see an increase attendance from all different types of community members around this program.
All you need is one community member who can help with the training, the Arduino Starter Kits, and marketing materials to get the word out about the program.
A sample Announcement is below:
What: Monthly Workshop to provide kids opportunity to learn world of electronics.
When: Class Once every month - 10:00pm - 1:30pm
Who: Middle School and higher along with their parents
Cost: $10 registration fee for each class.
Material: Arduino Starter kits to be provided to Kids (1 kit for 2 students) for use during the session. Request kids/parents to bring their laptop. Kids can purchase these kits online if they desire.
Goal: To provide a platform for teaching and skill development for electronics to community kids. Kids will be able to learn skills such as programming, electronic circuits and hardware. The platform will provide an opportunity for kids to work on different projects with the help off their parents.
